Russian company Lukoil opens facilities in Tabasco; "These are the times of the Mexican Southeast": Adán Augusto

The leader stressed that the opening of the Russian company in the state is a spearhead to develop other segments and not only the oil industry.

He said that the times when the Southeast contributed the wealth, but the great beneficiary was the North of the country and that only underpinned inequality, are over.

The firm is one of the most important oil companies in the world; It presents lubricants, greases and antifreeze for motor vehicles.

Upon inaugurating the facilities and the testing laboratory of the Russian company Lukoil -one of the most important oil companies in the world-, Governor Adán Augusto López Hernández highlighted the advantages that Tabasco has to receive large-scale projects, which help the entity and the Mexican Southeast to insert themselves into the harmonious development that the country requires.

“Today is the time of the Southeast and this association between Mexico and Russia, through Tabasco, is the spearhead for much that can be done in the entity, not only in favor of the oil industry, but so that we can all develop other segments and that every day there are better conditions for progress in Tabasco,” he stressed.

In the presence of Oleg Shurubor, general director of Lukoil Mexico, he pointed out that the times when the Southeast contributed the wealth and the great beneficiary was the North of the country are over, so development focused on that area and that inequality resulted in the abandonment of the Southeast, which was reflected in the existing infrastructure in both regions, such as roads, railways or ports.

López Hernández highlighted the more than 200 jobs that Lukoil Mexico will generate in Tabasco, the result of the association between the Russian company and local companies, such as Comercializadores de Bienes y Servicios NAES, Tecnología y Estudios Geo SA de CV and Servicios Inter Lab, headed by Tabasco businessmen, in charge of Miguel Ángel Narváez Ramírez.

It is important to mention that minutes before the inauguration of the facilities, the president received company executives in his office at the Government Palace and held a videoconference with Ivan Romanovsky, vice president for Latin America, West Africa and Europe of Lukoil, with whom he exchanged various comments.

At the Russian company’s facilities, located on Avenida Carlos Pellicer Cámara, Adán Augusto López thanked the European firm for its confidence in believing in Tabasco and that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, it did not take its finger off the line to invest in the entity, with an oil technology for the industry that was not previously available.

Together with Dimitry Golovin, CEO of Lukoil Lubricants Mexico, López Hernández also thanked the Russian company for the protective equipment it donated to the health sector in Tabasco and that is used to care for those who carry SARS-CoV-2.

He also highlighted that without an interest involved, “in a selfless way and because they have taken a special affection for Tabasco”, the company will make a significant donation to rehabilitate a water treatment plant, which is known as Guanajay, located in the municipality of Paraíso.

The Executive said that Tabasco is where Lukoil Mexico develops its best investments in the country in the oil industry, one of them with the Italian company ENI, in the Sánchez Magallanes area and in a shared association with Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), in Block 12, in which more than two billion dollars are invested in its development.

In his opportunity, Dimitry Golovin, explained that the technology they bring to the country, both in lubricants and in the exploration segment, has all the experience concentrated in his country, which has the largest number of oil deposits in the world.

Before José Antonio De la Vega Asmitia, secretary for Energy Development of Tabasco, he explained that they have presentations of various lines, such as greases, oils and products for vehicles. “In addition to the conversion we do with Tabasco for the distribution of our products, we also invest in qualified personnel from the State,” said Golovin.

The director of Lukoil Mexico, Miguel Ángel Narváez Ramírez, pointed out that the alliance with Lukoil Lubricants de México, a subsidiary of Lukoil Russia, allows the introduction to Tabasco and the entire Mexican Southeast of high technology lubricants, greases and antifreeze, which will allow to extend the life of diesel and gasoline engines.

“We would like to penetrate the companies that are building the two great works of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador: Dos Bocas and the Mayan Train, to which the Governor has already referred and that will promote the development of the Mexican Southeast,” emphasized Narváez Ramírez, together with the Secretary for Economic Development and Competitiveness, Mayra Elena Jacobo Priego.

In turn, Oleg Shurubor, general director of Lukoil Mexico, highlighted the importance of the investment made by the Russian company in the country through Tabasco, to improve the living and working conditions of the inhabitants of the region.

“We aim for long-term work in Tabasco and with a strong presence. So far we have invested around 80 million dollars in the oil industry and with the opening of our first oil well next year, those investments will continue to grow,” he mentioned in the presence of the head of the Ministry of Well-being, Sustainability and Climate Change, Mario Llergo Latournerie.
