Eni currently produces more than 20,000 barrels of oil per day from Area 1 and expects to increase to 65,000 barrels per day in 2022.
The Italian hydrocarbon company, Eni, announced the discovery of an oil field in the country that, based on its own estimates, would have reserves ranging from 150 million barrels to 200 million.
This discovery is located in block 10 of the Southeast Saline Basin, specifically in the Sayulita-1 EXP well. This is the seventh well that Eni has drilled in the area, about 70 km from the coast and 15 km from the Saasken deposit, which will have its evaluation at the end of 2021.
It is worth mentioning that this new discovery was made thanks to drilling by the Valaris 8505 Semisub platform, at a water depth of 325 meters; to finally achieve a total descent of 1,758 meters.
In this sense, Sayulita-1 EXP yielded 55 m of net oil production; where the information gathered points towards an estimate of up to 3 thousand barrels per day in terms of total production at the well.
“Mexico is a central country in the company’s future organic growth strategy… it currently produces more than 20 thousand barrels of oil per day from Area 1 and expects to increase to 65 thousand barrels per day in 2022; and reach an average of 90 thousand in 2025,” the Italian oil company’s statement said.
